The Tuscan wine production is divided into various categories, according to different levels of quality.

At the bottom there are what we call "Vini da Tavola", can be founded everyday on Italian family tables. In a higher position, there are IGT wines (a Indicazione Geografica tipica), but the great part of Tuscan wine production is covered by Vine DOC (a Denominazione di Origine Controllata), and finally, in the highest position, the DOCG wines, ( a Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita), like the Chianti, Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, the Vernaccia of San Gimignano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Its climate, soil and very old tradition of wine making, Tuscany is a natural wine growing region. The wines are as personal as a name, as different as the colours of the rainbow and a part of the Italian life as it has been for almost 3,000 years.

The Etruscans of North-Central Italy, who created one of the peninsula's earliest civilization, left evidence of wine making, the Greeks who soon after established themselves in the South gave Italy the name Enotria (the land of wine). For centuries wine cultivation has been a tradition and the labor of the Italian farmers; this is still true today; a large part of the population is engaged in the wine industry. We choose restaurants and wineries for their quality as well as scenic locations, however if there is a particular place you have heard of and would like to visit, please let us know and we will try to include it.
