Christian Tour

Our Christian Tour of Rome offers a unique perspective to explore Rome through the lens of Christianity.

Ever since Constantine’s victory over the pagans in the 4th century AD, Christianity has been the dominant religion in Rome. With the city being home to numerous churches and serving as the official residence of the Catholic Church, its significance in the history of Christianity is undeniable.

THE CATHEDRAL OF SAINT JOHN IN LATERAN:
The Cathedral of Saint John in Lateran is one of the oldest Basilicas in Rome, and it was the original seat of the Bishop of Rome (also known as the Pope). This tour takes you through the vast collection of art found in the Cathedral, featuring Vatican artifacts and the Baptistery. One of the most sacred relics of the Vatican, the Scala Santa or Holy Stairs, is also housed here. It is believed that these stairs were climbed by Jesus himself in Jerusalem and brought to Rome in the 4th century.

THE BASILICA OF SAINT MARY THE GREAT:
This grand Basilica is located on Esquiline Hill and is one of the few examples of a Byzantine interior that has been well preserved. The tour provides an opportunity to explore the magnificent mosaic work and artistic representations within the basilica’s interior. This place of worship, named after Mother Mary, is considered one of the largest and most beautiful of its kind.

THE BASILICA OF SAINT PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALL:
Nestled outside the ancient Aurelian Walls, the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls is a significant religious site in Rome. Built over the tomb of Saint Paul, it is one of the city’s four major basilicas and is considered one of the most important churches in Christendom. The basilica’s impressive interior features a stunning collection of religious art and artifacts, including mosaics, frescoes, and sculptures from different periods. These works of art tell the story of the apostle Paul’s life and legacy while showcasing the Vatican’s rich artistic heritage.

THE CHURCH OF THE HOLY CROSS IN JERUSALEM:
This church is believed to house some of the most revered relics from the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. The church boasts a collection of the original cross fragments and the remnants of the crucifixion, which are believed to be genuine. This makes the church one of the most significant and sought-after pilgrimage sites in Rome today.

THE CHURCH OF SAINT PETER IN CHAINS:
Nestled in a quiet corner lies a small church that holds within it an intriguing piece of history. It is believed that the chains that once held St. Peter captive in the Mamertine Prison in Jerusalem are now housed within this humble abode. These very chains, which have withstood the test of time, can still be seen today by visitors. They are situated beside the renowned statue of Moses, crafted by the legendary artist Michelangelo.

THE VATICAN CITY AND ST PETER’S BASILICA:
The Vatican City is a highly popular tourist destination known for being the residence of the Pope and the location of the largest church in the world. It is a place where you can witness some of the most incredible works of art and immerse yourself in rich religious history. The Vatican boasts of world-renowned Museums, the iconic Sistine Chapel, and the majestic St. Peter’s Basilica. During the tour, you will get to explore the highlights of the Vatican City and may be also able to visit the burial sites of numerous Popes, including the great John Paul II.

We highly recommend for you to pre-purchase your Vatican tickets online for a 2 pm entry.
Important notice: The Basilica of St Peter’s might close for last-minute ceremonies or mass. We will try to inform you as soon as possible, but it is not always possible.

St. Peter Basilica now requires all visitors to pay 1.5 Euro cash for headsets.
All rates are payable in cash (Euros only) at the end of each service or with Zelle. We do not accept credit cards on the day of the service.
