Essence of Florence

This tour takes you through the streets of Florence. You and your private guide will explore the history of this beautiful city and you will learn its importance in the history of Art. In about 10 minutes walking you will reach the Accademia Gallery, which houses the famous “David” by Michelangelo, together with countless works of art by the Perugino, the Ghirlandaio and Bronzino, among the most famous.

Once you have finishes visiting the Accademia Gallery, you walk past the homes of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo to the Gothic church of Santa Croce. Here you visit the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and the marvel art works of Donatello and Giotto.

From here just a few minutes you reach the town hall at Piazza della Signoria. This is the center of Florentine politics and home to a captivating outdoor sculpture gallery and then to the marvelous Ponte Vecchio.

Then on to the Uffizi Gallery, your last destination for the day, where you’ll focus on selected masterpieces by Giotto, Botticelli, Raphael, Da Vinci and Michelangelo.

Duration: 5 hours

Availability: Every day except Mondays when the museum remain closed.

Meeting Point: The guide will meet you in front of Hotel Savoy in Piazza della Repubblica holding a sign with your name on.

Exclusive walking tour

After you are greeted by your private licensed guide at your hotel, you will make your way (either walking or by taxi, depending on the location of your hotel) to the Uffizi Gallery to see some of the most important masterpieces of the Renaissance period from Botticelli to Da Vinci. From the main part of the museum you will then take a walk to another exclusive part of it, the Vasari Corridor, the secret passage that was used by the Medici family to walk from the Uffizi to the Palazzo Pitti above the old bridge without being seen or noticed by anyone. It is NOT open to the general public and can only be visited by pre- booking. Our guide in Florence has the opportunity and exclusivity to visit this part in the morning. From here you will take a walk to the Accademia Gallery with your private guide to see Michelangelo’s famous sculpture of David and end your tour here.

Please note that the Accademia and the Uffizi museum are closed on Mondays!

Essential walking tour

After you are greeted by your private licensed guide at your hotel, you will make your way (either walking or by taxi, depending on where your hotel is located) to The Academy Gallery which houses Michelangelo’s “David”; perhaps the greatest sculpture ever created. From here you will continue on passing the magnificent Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore to view Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Campanile (bell tower) and the “Gate of Paradise”, which are the very famous doors to the baptistery of the city, arriving to the the Uffizi Gallery which holds some of the most important painting masterpieces, where you concentrate on selected wroks of Giotto, Botticelli, Raphael, Da Vinci and Michelangelo and end your tour at the very famous Ponte Vecchio, the old bridge.

Please note that the Accademia and the Uffizi museum are closed on Mondays!

Tickets for each museum: Euro 15 per person (if the museums have an exhibition the price of the tickets can be higher)
