Five fabulous days exploring the life of the Italian maestro
Day 1: Arrival to Rome and to Bocelli FarmHouse
Your driver will meet you at the airport and you can start your journey in to the countryside, arriving to the small hill town of Orvieto. You have the morning here to explore this medieval town and have an easy day after your flight. Then a quick drive to a local farmhouse for lunch and excellent wine before heading to your to Bocelli family FarmHouse. On your arrival at the Bocelli family FarmHouse you will be greeted by Alberto and Cinzia Bocelli. You will then be shown to your fabulous private apartment where you will be able to relax before your evening meal.
Day 2: Florence
You will want to be up bright and early on the second day of your Bocelli FarmHouse Basic Tour as you will be visiting the exquisite Tuscan city of Florence. After having enjoyed a lovely breakfast spread including delightful sweet and savoury treats, your driver will take you to Florence. You will be fascinated by its numerous monuments, churches, and buildings, as Santa Maria del Fiore, more commonly referred to as The Duomo, the Baptistery, with its bronze doors that Michelangelo dubbed the “Gates of Paradise.” Spend the afternoon strolling the Uffizi art gallery where some of the best known paintings are located and of course end your tour with Accademia, the home to Michelangelo’s David. In the evening after a little relaxation time, you will be taken to the Ristorante Da Nello in Lajatico where you will be able to end the evening indulging in some delicious Italian cuisine and top-notch regional wine.
Day 3: Lajatico and Volterra
On the third day of your Bocelli FarmHouse Basic Tour you will be spending your day exploring some of the region’s most remarkable and beautiful towns. After having enjoyed a hearty continental breakfast at the Bocelli family FarmHouse, your knowledgeable English speaking driver will chauffeur you to the neighbouring town of Lajatico. Lajatico is almost certainly one of the most exciting localities that you will be visiting during your five day farmhouse tour as it is the birthplace of Italy’s most celebrated and beloved tenor, Andrea Bocelli. In this lovely town is where Teatro del Silenzio, Andrea’s celebrated and unique concert venue from which he holds a sell-out concert just once every year. When not in use, the stalls are dismantled and transformed into a beautiful artificial lake. Next is to visit Volterra, today one of the most famous towns in the region of Tuscany, built high on the rolling hills, where you can find an marvelous view and enchanting sites in the city, from the ancient Romans theater to Piazza dei Priori, where Andrea Bocelli performed more then 20 years ago. In the evening you will be taken to the Ristorante Da Nello in Lajatico for yet another splendid slap-up meal. The antipasti plates of cured meats and locally produced cheeses come highly recommended.
Day 4: Pisa and Lucca
After breakfast you will meet up again with your driver and guide, to spend a portion of your morning at the Leaning Tower and the main square. The cathedral and baptistery, the tower of Pisa, and the Campo Santo or cemetery, together form one of the most beautiful and famous building groups in the world. The “Piazza dei Miracoli” makes a perfect showplace for these exquisite examples of Romanesque architecture. Continuing on along the scenic route in the Tuscan countryside, before arriving to one of the most famous and glorious walled cities of Italy, Lucca. Here you will spend a portion of your afternoon sightseeing the town and Duomo di San Martino, before heading back
Day 5: Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio and back to Rome
On the fifth day of your Bocelli FarmHouse Basic Tour you will be leaving the Bocelli family FarmHouse after having indulged in your final fabulous breakfast spread and heading straight for the lovely town of Orvieto. On your arrival in Orvieto, you will be offered the unique opportunity to explore the town’s underground, a network of grottoes and pathways used by the Etruscans for many years ago. Your English speaking driver will then accompany you to La Badia, this charismatic restaurant was once a medieval monastery nestled within the Umbrian hills, but today it is one of the region’s most prized eating establishments serving up fabulous food among the fragrant vineyards and olive groves. Afternoon you will be visiting Civita di Bagnoregio, a town founded by the Etruscan over twenty-five hundred years ago. This picturesque town is in fact located on atop a plateau of volcanic tuff and overlooks the Tiber river valley below.
