This day excursion is designed for those wish to enjoy the highlights of the archaeological site of POMPEII, SORRENTO and highlights of NAPLES.
After you are greeted at the Port of Naples, you will begin your day with a drive to the picturesque coastal village of Sorrento for some sightseeing and a local lunch. From there, the tour continues back to Naples to see some of the highlights of this colorful city, passing by the famous Plebiscito square, the Royal Palace, the picturesque Umberto gallery, and the Maschio Angioino Castle. You will then visit one of the most important archaeological museums in Europe to see the artworks and private collections featuring the main artifacts found during regional excavations. Your final stop will be the archaeological site of Pompeii, the ancient city whose ruins were preserved by the volcanic eruption that devastated it in 79AD, where you will spend the remainder of the afternoon exploring history. In case you have already visited Pompeii, you can substitute it with Herculaneum, a smaller but well-preserved site featuring stylish mosaics and ancient house complexes, before you are returned to the Port of Naples.
