In the Footsteps of Bernini
Follow the genius of Gian Lorenzo Bernini across Rome, from the theatrical masterpiece of the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa and iconic Baroque fountains to the heavenly angels of Castel Sant'Angelo.
The Tour
Trace the genius of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the visionary artist who defined the theatrical splendor of Baroque Rome and transformed stone into living emotion. Accompanied by your licensed private guide, you will embark on an inspiring journey through the historic center to discover how his revolutionary sculptures, fountains, and architecture turned the Eternal City into an open-air stage. Your exploration begins inside the Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, where you will stand in contemplation before the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, a breathtaking masterpiece celebrating divine drama, light, and marble craftsmanship.
Continuing toward Piazza Barberini, you will admire Bernini’s innovative mastery of water at the monumental Triton Fountain and the delicate Fountain of the Bees. Your guide then escorts you to the Basilica of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte to behold two monumental angel sculptures carved by Bernini’s own hands, originally commissioned for the papal bridge and celebrated for their tender expressions and flowing marble drapery.
The experience leads to Piazza del Popolo, where you will examine Bernini’s urban architectural triumphs, from the decorative inner facade of the historic northern gate designed to welcome Pope Alexander VII to the scenic harmony of the surrounding churches. Your journey concludes on the Bridge of Castel Sant'Angelo, taking in the dramatic open-air gallery of marble angels bearing the instruments of the Passion along the Tiber River.
