This day excursion is designed for those who wish to enjoy the best known Roman surroundings; TIVOLI and CASTEL GANDOLFO.
After you are greeted by your English speaking driver, you will begin the tour of Rome’s countryside. You will arrive at the most interesting destination of the ancient Roman elites; Tivoli. In the morning you will spend time visiting the ancient ruins and countryside villa of the Emperor Hadrian. Continuing on, you will arrive in Villa D’Este, the renaissance summer estate known for its exquisitely manicured gardens, fountains and highly praised fresco paintings. When you have completed all of your sightseeing here, you will be driven back to Castel Gandolfo, where you will spend the duration of your afternoon exploring the small village, have lunch and see the summer residence of the Pope before heading back to Rome.
Those who visit in the summer months may have the opportunity to take part in either the Pope’s Papal Audience on Wednesday, or his Public Blessing on Sundays.
